5 Ways | How to Make Money Online For Beginners

Learning how to make money online for beginners is less difficult then what others perceive it as. In fact, there are a number of ways you can do so ! Use the below methods either by specializing in one to become in expert in that field or dip your toe into each of them. It’s hard to tell which one you will enjoy the most if you do not try them all!

1. Make Money Online With Blogging

Blogging is a great way for beginners to learn how to make money online. Discovering how to blog for money can create a steady income once it is up and running. I should start off by stating that creating a blog is a long term way to make consistent money. That being said, it will be a slow start and can take 7 to 12 months before you start seeing any money. Although it is a great way to make steady money online that accumulates based on the amount of work you put in.

One way bloggers make money is the ads that people see on the page. Majority of those are from Google AdSense or Mediavine. Basically, Google pays you based on the amount of traffic coming to your blog (who click on the ad) and they place ads relevant to your posts. It takes a lot of traffic to make good money with Google AdSense. The best way to make money with blogging is by product endorsement deals and affiliate sales/marketing. This is where the real money is.

Affiliate Marketing = a marketing arrangement by which an online retailer pays commission to an external website (blog) for traffic or sales generated from its referrals.

Product Endorsement = a blog / website publicly supporting a products features, benefits, etc.

Note: A lot of “how to make $40,000 a month bloggers” make their money from paid classes and tutorials. There is enough information on the internet that you do not need to pay for these classes in the beginning. They can be beneficial if you are looking to increase traffic towards your blog once it is established.

2. Virtual Assistant and Digital Assistant

A virtual assistant is anyone who can help with jobs from a remote location. They offer requested services to other business owners from home in exchange for money. According to Payscale, Virtual Assistants on average make $15.79 an hour. The jobs vary from position to position. For example, many experienced drop shippers (see point 5) will hire virtual assistants to help with day to day operations of their business. For this reason, becoming a virtual assistant can be a great way to earn some extra income on your own time.

3. Freelance Writing for Beginners

Writing jobs are a great way to make money at home. Freelance writers provide written text to topics requested by clients. This can easily become whatever you make it. Whether it be part time or full time, the possibilities are endless. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the median hourly wage of writers is $30.39 with an annual wage of $63,200 (for full time writers). This does take a certain skill set to make these figures. Being a great writer will help you land higher paying jobs and make connections. Although if you are not a great writer, work on your craft and you will get there. Everything takes work. One of the best websites to find work as a freelance writer is upwork.com.

4. Make Money with Online Surveys

There are a lot of scam “Get Paid Surveys” out there that will not pay out even after hours of taking surveys, trust me I know. One that I have had success with is Swagbucks. When completing surveys on Swagbucks you earn points that can be used towards rewards like money or vouchers. These surveys take around 10 minutes to complete and can earn you around $6.50 an hour just by taking surveys. Not a bad gig.

5. Dropshipping

I believe dropshipping to be one of the more complicated methods of these five. Although, it can be one of the more rewarding methods. Dropshipping is simply an order fulfillment method. You (the store) lists products on your website or ebay profile or Amazon profile from other stores like Wal-Mart. Lets say you want to sell a PS4 controller on Ebay. You would create the product on Ebay and list it with a higher price than what is on Wal-Mart. Profit margins are low though because you cannot go too high on price otherwise no one will buy it. Once a customer orders the PS4 controller on your Ebay account, you go on Wal-Marts website and purchase that controller. Instead of using your address for the shipping destination, you use the customers address that bought it on your store.

You would never actually have the physical product in your home. The customer receives the product and you collect the difference in price from your website and Wal-Marts. For example, if you sold the controller for $55 and bought it from Wal-Mart for $50 after shipping, then you made $5 from that sale. There are many pros and cons to dropshipping which will be discussed in following articles including “What happens when a customer wants a return?” or “What happens when Wal-Marts price went up and I sold it for less than cost?”.
